1957 Empire Aristocrat (Hermes Rocket) **Wonderful Condition**

This sleek little Empire has a secret… Under the hood it’s a Hermes Rocket with a super cool hammered paint job! Rockets are FANTASTIC little machines! Smart, minimalist design with a well-performing little machine that will keep up with just about anything you throw at it! They aren't quite the full experience you have with a full sized portable or standard, but these well made little ultras are just about as fun as they come. The Rocket is virtually identical to the Hermes Baby, only having some minor cosmetic differences in models of the same era.
Quite simply- they type, and they do it anywhere. Meant for getting words on paper, no frills, no unnecessary extras. But what they do, they do very well.
Designed by the esteemed Swiss company Hermes and manufactured in England, this little machine is everything you could want in a compact, on the go Typewriter. This is a fairly rare machine to see in the states, it’s the first I’ve had come through the shop!
Mechanically, it types like very well- Smooth, snappy, and very light key travel for it being an ultra portable.
Cosmetically, it's a handsome little machine. Paint is in great condition and the keys are as well.
The pica typeface is classic, professional, and easy to read at 10 cpi.
The travel of the keys is minimal and fairly easy, not typical on ultra portables as the linkages are shortened. It IS a monochrome typer, meaning it only types with a solid color ribbon, so if you’re wanting two color capabilities, this isn’t the one for you.
The case is a handy snap on clamshell lid just like many of the Hermes models, and does a fine job protecting this little machine!
This is NOT an "as-is" typewriter.
It has been lovingly cleaned, oiled, serviced, and thoroughly tested to ensure it'll hang with whatever you decide to write with it.
