1958 Royal Futura 800 PINK DREAM *Special Typeface*

Merit Pica Typeface (10 cpi)

Futura.

The word speaks of flying cars, robots, and other space age imaginings of the yesteryears.

That’s exactly what Royal was trying to evoke when they came up with this line of machines, and the curvy, sleek design holds up even 62 years later!

Based on the internal design of the flagship Quiet De Luxe, the Futura 800 is the top of the line iteration of the three Futura models and featured all the bells and whistles available at the time. It was aggressively marketed to students, both high school and college.

It was sold at the average price of $125, which given inflation would be $1,275.54 in 2023 currency!!!

It’s in GREAT condition, both mechanically and aesthetically. The paint is a wonderful pink over dark gray in gloss. It was well taken care of, it’s in great shape both aesthetically and mechanically.  Interestingly, Royal named this color “Cocoa”, which still sort of baffles me… But there it is anyway! :)

The typeface is a machine specific one called Merit, and is very similar to Olympia’s Modern elite with its widened stance of the letters. A very cool "storytelling" sort of font, and perfect for creative writing! The case is in good condition as well, and makes a handsome companion to such a gorgeous machine. One of the COOLEST feature of this is the asterisk- it’s an actual 5 pointed star!

This is NOT an "as-is" typewriter.

It has been lovingly cleaned, oiled, serviced, and thoroughly tested to ensure it'll hang with whatever you decide to write with it. This is classy machine, sure to turn heads and drive conversation.

It comes with everything you see in the pictures and more;

YOUR CHOICE of an all-black, or black and red ribbon on vintage metal spools(installed), a reprinted owners manual, the typewriter, its handsome hard case, an OFFICIAL Nashville Typewriter sticker and hand-typed note from me, the typeface text sample, and even a few sheets of nice paper to get you started on your path to analog independence and distraction-free writing!

Has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled lightly in the spots that are supposed to be, and serviced by someone that LOVES typewriters.

Free shipping in the continental US, estimates available upon request for global customers.
